3. A not quite mature alligator on the riverbank. Shelly and I spotted it after being on the river for a whole 5 minutes. At the same time I was taking this photo, Kevin—around the small bend behind us—hit something submerged and overturned his kayak. Then as we were getting him righted a county-owned propellor boat came up the river and scared everything away.
